Choosing the Right Style of Shower Screen
Many homeowners choose a shower screen based mainly on how it looks.
However, the most important factor is whether the style of screen works properly within the bathroom layout.
Common problems occur when the chosen style does not suit the available space.
These problems often include:
• shower doors hitting vanities or towel rails
• not enough space for the door to open comfortably
• water escaping from open walk-in panels
Another important factor that is often overlooked is the distance between the shower rose wall and the opening of the shower screen.
The current Standard is 1500 mm measured from the back wall where the shower rose is located to the threshold of the shower opening. However, this is the standard and options are available.
This measurement plays an important role in controlling water movement within the shower area.
If the opening is too large or positioned incorrectly, water can easily escape from the shower area regardless of the style of screen chosen.
With more than 30 years experience and over 50,000 bathroom visits, Sam has seen many situations where choosing the right shower screen style — combined with the correct layout — prevents these problems.
Getting advice early in the renovation process helps ensure the shower screen style works properly within the space available.
